USING to be(am ,is,are,was,were,been,being)

To be(am ,is,are,was,were,been,being)often translate in Indonesia language is berada,adalah but in a particular sentence pattern,tobe has no meaning.

Using tobe

1.Used to nominal sentence
example:

a.John is a lawyer.
John adalah seorang pengacara.

b.Iam very busy this moment.
Saya sangat sibuk saat ini.

c.We are here every day.
Kami berada disini setiap hari

note:
Nominal sentence is sentence whose predicate not verb,but adjective,noun,etc


2.Used to Present continuous tense.
example:
a.I am preparing my home work.
saya sedang mempersiapkan pekerjaan rumah saya.

b.Father is working in the garden.
Ayah sedang bekerja di kebun.

c.The children are watching television.
Anak-anak sedang menonton televisi.

3.strung together with verb 3 (past participle) to form passive sentences (passive voice)
example:
a.They are taught English by Mr.Fery
Mereka diajar bahasa inggris diajar oleh tuan Fery.

b.English is spoken over the world.
Bahasa Inggris dibicarakan diseluruh dunia.

c.The money was stolent last night.
Uang itu dicuri tadi malam.

4.Used to imperative sentence
example :

a.Be a good student.
jadilah seorang pelajar yang yang baik.

b.Be careful not to mention this to john!
Hati-hatilah jangan menyebutnya kepada john!

c.Dont be lazy!be diligent!
Jangan malas ! Rajin rajinlah !
